Utah Jazz @ Washington Wizards – 7:00pm ET
Two of the biggest surprises of the NBA season come to a head in Washington this evening: the Jazz have massively outperformed preseason expectations, sitting atop the Western Conference standings, while the Wizards have massively underperformed after their acquisition of Russell Westbrook, sitting 11 games under .500.
Hence, why we see this massive line. When this happens, it’s easy to forget the pedigree of each team and their recent issues. Utah has lost five of its last seven away games, while Washington has covered 53.8% of the time as a home underdog, including when it was a huge dog to Milwaukee recently.
This is too big a number given the context, especially with Mike Conley sidelined. The Wizards probably won’t win but they should cover.
Pick: Wizards +11
Trends: This line opened at +10, so while the line is moving Utah’s direction, it just gives more opportunity for Washington to cover.
