WHY WE’LL WATCH: This event has been a birdie-fest since its inception in 2019 with three of the four winners shooting at least 23-under par.
COURSE INFO: Detroit Golf Club is known as one of the tamer courses on the PGA Tour. The 36-hole layout was designed by Donald Ross in 1913 and covers 7,370 yards as a par 72. Relatively straight fairways and lighter-than-usual penalties make it easy to find the Poa annua greens, but that’s where things can get tricky with slick and sloped putting conditions.
FAVES: Defending champ Tony Finau (+1400) is in a three-way tie with Collin Morikawa and the red-hot Rickie Fowler for the top spot. Hideki Matsuyama (+1600) is right behind them, so there’s no obvious favorite this week.
BET TO CONSIDER: Fowler Top 20 (-115)
He is dialed ☎️ in and has finished top-17 in nine of his last 10 showings. Fowler has also made the cut in three of four appearances at this event, finishing as high as T12 in 2020.
