It’s only fitting that the 123rd U.S. Open will be in Los Angeles (LACC), with golf’s biggest stars vying for this storied major. Here are the faves:
⛳ Scottie Scheffler (+750): His worst finish on Tour since November is a tie for 12th. Insane. Tied for second last year at the Country Club with a Sunday 67.
⛳ Jon Rahm (+1100): Comes in lukewarm off at T50 at the PGA and T16 at the Memorial. And that’s why the Masters champ is not favored.
⛳ Brooks Koepka (+1200): The big-game hunter has won five majors since 2017. He has been reborn. And he comes in refreshed.
⛳ Rory McIlroy (+1500): Perhaps distracted last week, the conscience of professional golf managed a T9 in Canada. Rors has four straight top-10s at the U.S. Open but no victories since 2011.
⛳ Patrick Cantlay (+1600): The sweet-swinging Cantlay is past due to hold up some heavy hardware on a Sunday evening.
⛳ Viktor Hovland (+1600): Speaking of due, the cheerful Norwegian has gone T4, T7, T2 in his last three majors and just captured the Memorial, also on a rugged course.
⛳ Xander Schauffele (+2000): Impressive that, at 29, the SoCal native has five top-7 U.S Open finishes. Unimpressive that he has zero wins.
