FIRST AND SCOREMOST

ACTION REPORT 📊

Fanatics Sportsbook Presented by PointsBet creative

One of the most popular prop markets for any Super Bowl is which player will score the first touchdown.

Bettors have done well here 💰 in recent years, as popular players Jalen Hurts, Odell Beckham Jr. and Rob Gronkowski reached the end zone first in the past three Super Bowls.

When the 49ers and Chiefs squared off in Super Bowl LIV four years ago, it was a Patrick Mahomes run that opened up the scoring. Mahomes is +1800 to repeat the feat on Sunday.

Here are the five most popular first TD bets for Super Bowl LVIII by handle 💵.

1. Travis Kelce (+700) 27.2%
The only time Kelce cashed for first TD this entire season? That would be in the AFC Championship Game against the Ravens.

2. Christian McCaffrey (+425) 22.1%
Despite racking up 25 scores in the regular season and playoffs, McCaffrey actually hasn’t been a first TD scorer since Nov. 19 vs. the Bucs 🤨.

3. Brandon Aiyuk (+1000) 12.1%
Aiyuk has been the first TD scorer in three 49ers games this season, only trailing McCaffrey’s four for most on the team.

4. Rashee Rice (+900) 11.6%
Rice has been the first TD scorer in three Chiefs games in his rookie campaign. Interestingly, they all came against AFC East teams (Dolphins twice, Patriots).

5. Isiah Pacheco (+550) 5.7%
Pacheco leads the Chiefs with four first TDs this season, though he hasn’t done it in the playoffs despite scoring in all three games.

EXPERT PICKS

Ariel Epstein and Ryan Elmalem swept the board on Monday, so can they go 3-0 again with their top NBA plays?

THE PROP QUEEN

Grizzlies at Knicks: Under 212.5 Points (-110) [7:30 p.m. ET]
“Nine of the last 10 Knicks home games have gone under the total. Both teams are dealing with key injuries, and this is already a Memphis team that ranks in the bottom 5 in scoring on the road.”
Suns F Kevin Durant Over 25.5 Points (-115) [10 p.m. ET]
“Durant has scored 26+ points in four of his last five against the Bucks, and Milwaukee’s defense isn't even close to the level it was in previous seasons. He’s also topped 25 points in seven of his last 10 home games.”

THE GRAPHICS GUY

Knicks G Josh Hart Under 12.5 Points (-120) [7:30 p.m. ET]
“Even with a couple key Knicks hurt, I don’t expect Hart to have a jump in scoring tonight. He’s scored 13+ in only 10 percent of games this season and it’s apparent Jalen Brunson is getting the volume of shots in Julius Randle’s absence.”

INJURY IMPACT

MARKET MOVERS 📉

Fanatics Sportsbook Presented by PointsBet creative

The 76ers announced this morning that Joel Embiid underwent a left knee procedure and that the star big man will be reevaluated in approximately four weeks 😢.

Embiid’s MVP odds were already off the board, but how did this recent injury news impact Philly’s NBA title odds? We brought in NBA trader Evan Gould to explain.

ASK THE TRADER: Embiid will be out for a good chunk of time, but NBA title odds were relatively unaffected by his official injury news. That’s because he’s not expected to be sidelined long enough to where he’d miss playoff games. We drifted Philly’s odds slightly with the chance Embiid’s injury lingers into the postseason, but we didn’t think it warranted significant movement.

Charley Hoffman Top 20 at WM Phoenix Open: +750

Hoffman is no stranger to the desert 🌵, residing in Las Vegas after playing collegiate golf at UNLV. TPC Scottsdale has the second-longest average birdie putt length on TOUR, and Hoffman’s laser iron game ranks seventh over the past year in fairway approach accuracy. He’s also coming off a T-14 finish in this event last year.

There’s one more thing—Charley is the Waste Management brand ambassador. He wears a green hat and a matching glove to stay in line with the company colors. This is probably his most important tournament all year outside the majors.
