IF I HAD $100 BET CREDITS …

DID YOU KNOW? Jeff Capel was named ACC Coach of the Year. (AP Photo)

Here’s what we like in the First Four (6:40 p.m. ET):

[$35] SE Missouri +3.5 vs. Texas A&M-CC: The Redhawks have covered four straight spreads. And Texas A&M-CC will play its first game without starting PG Terrion Murdix, a spellcheck special.

[$25] SEMO-A&M Over 156.5: It’s a huge total because of the teams’ productive, speedy offenses. But we’ll take it and hope they make it rain ☔.

[$25] Mississippi State -2.5 vs. Pitt: The Bulldogs bark on ‘D,’ and Pitt may be without starting center Federiko Federiko (knee), a game-time decision.

[$15] Pitt-Mississippi State Under 133.5: See above. The Bulldogs defense rates sixth in KenPom.

EXPERT PICKS

College sports guru Lucy Rohden and Prop Queen Ariel Epstein join NBA studio host Kazeem 'Kaz' Famuyide, who dips his toes in the college water.

THE COMEDIAN

Pitt +2.5 vs. Mississippi State (-110)
"Pitt is better than people think, not that people really think about Pitt."
Texas A&M-CC -3.5 vs. SE Missouri
"I swear this team is in the tourney every year. I'm taking experience on this one!"

THE PROP QUEEN

Knicks' Mitchell Robinson over 8.5 Points (-115)
"The Blazers are bottom-10 in points allowed in the paint. Portland's best defender, Jerami Grant, is a game-time decision (quad)."
Thunder's Jalen Williams over 3.5 Assists (+115)
"He's averaging six in his last six games. Brooklyn has allowed the fifth most assists per game to their opponents in the last three."

THE NBA HOST

Nets +1.5 @ Oklahoma City (-110)
"Mikal Bridges keeps it going for the Nets, who are playing much better in the post-KD/Kyrie era."
Furman +5.5 vs. Virginia (-110) [Thursday]
"Furman's pace could give Virginia trouble. An early upset special?"

FOUR FOR (FINAL) FOUR

MAKE THE CASE‍⚖️

Texas leads the Big 12 in scoring and turnover margin.

A Final Four pick from each region:

  • SOUTH: Alabama (+175) – Talent should trump potential distractions ⚖️, at least until the Tide reach the Final Four.
  • EAST: Marquette (+425) – The offense rates No. 8 in adjusted efficiency, and the Golden Eagles have a fantastic draw. Purdue has suspect guards, and Tennessee has not learned to win without PG Zakai Zeigler.
  • MIDWEST: Texas (+350) – The Longhorns are loaded with talented vets playing all-out for acting coach Rodney Terry.
  • WEST: UConn (+500) – The Huskies’ efficiency make them the darlings of the analytics crowd. And will top-seeded Kansas have coach Bill Self at full strength?

BORN TO LEAD

PointsBet Data and Insights

Brook Lopez has re-emerged as the favorite for DPOY by registering 17.3 contested shots per game – five more than any other player.

  • SHARP PLAY: Lopez (-135) – He blocked an outrageous nine Brooklyn shots last week, the NBA’s most rejections since Rudy Gobert’s nine in 2021.
  • FADING: Jaren Jackson Jr. (+115) – Bad combo here: His fouls are up, and his minutes (24 on Monday) are down.
  • WORTH A LOOK: Bam Adebayo (+1500) – He’s being asked to do more offensively, but the three-time All-Defensive Team member can guard anyone.
  • WORTH A GLANCE: Giannis (+2500) – If he can’t win MVP (+800) because of Jokic (-250) and Embiid (+225), how bout DPOY? Or will teammate Lopez swat away his votes, too?
WHAT THE HEELS HAPPENED?

WHAT WERE THE ODDS?

Scottie Scheffler, the Smilin' Assasin. (AP Photo)

1. Northwestern made the tournament for just the second time in school history. North Carolina missed it, marking the first time a preseason No. 1 has whiffed since brackets became a thing in 1985.

Odds: The Cats would have been about +750 to make it, and the Tar Heels +700 to miss it. Factor in the slight correlation and that’s a parlay of +6000!

2. Scottie Scheffler️‍♂️ not only romped at TPC Sawgrass, he breezed to a 5-shot victory over a classy field.

Odds: Our traders would have invited action at 150/1 (+15000).

3. Team USA stayed alive by drilling Canada, 12-1. But a day earlier, the Stars ‘n’ Stripes took it on the chin against Mexico, 11-5.

Odds: Mexico plating 11 runs in a victory over US? Would have been +5000.
