HOW LOW CAN YOU GO

TOTAL THURSDAY 🏈

PointsBet: A Fanatics Experience creative

Iowa has already played in five games this season with a total that closed in the 30s, but this upcoming Saturday marks a new low.

The total for Minnesota at Iowa opened at 32.5 and has since been bet down to 31.5. According to Action Network, that is tied for the lowest college football total since 1995 🤯. Two games from last season also closed at 31.5: Iowa-Minnesota and the Music City Bowl between Iowa and Kentucky.

Even with the total this low, the under has still caught the attention of many of bettors. The under has racked up 65.3% of the tickets and 78.6% of the handle 💵 among all bets placed on the Minnesota-Iowa total. It’s drawn the second-most under tickets of any Week 8 game, only behind Penn State-Ohio State (45.5).

EXPERT PICKS

Two-sport star Ariel Epstein is rolling with an MLB underdog and a TNF player prop. Max Meyer is eyeing an under for a star player on TNF.

THE PROP QUEEN

Diamondbacks +1.5 Run Line (-145) vs. Phillies [5:07 p.m. ET]
“The Diamondbacks are 16-7 at home since Aug. 12, which is tied for the best record in baseball over that stretch. Arizona has won 4 of Brandon Pfaadt’s last five home starts, with the loss coming by 1 run.”
Jaguars TE Evan Engram Under 45.5 Receiving Yards (-125) [8:15 p.m. ET]
“The Saints have allowed the third-fewest receiving yards per game to tight ends. Engram has only faced one team this season that’s been good at defending TEs, and racked up only 28 yards against the Bills in that one.”

THE SENIOR EDITOR

Saints RB Alvin Kamara Under 50.5 Rushing Yards (-125)
“Kamara hasn’t been very efficient this season, averaging under 4 yards per carry with full workloads the past 2 games. Now fellow RB Jamaal Williams is back from a hamstring injury and the Saints also have a banged-up offensive line.”

Great news: You can take advantage of TNF with a BONUS BET on us 😃! If you’re trying to figure out how to use it, we have a suggestion.

Here at the Hustle, we share noteworthy betting action every single edition. So we turned it into a parlay that is now being offered every TNF and MNF.

The “Hustle’s People Parlay” will feature the game’s three most popular player prop bets by tickets from your fellow bettors. Instead of trusting one person’s opinion, we’re rolling with the opinion of thousands 🧠.

For tonight’s clash between the Jaguars and Saints, the most popular player props by tickets are Travis Etienne anytime touchdown, Alvin Kamara 20+ receiving yards and Chris Olave 50+ receiving yards. The “Hustle’s People Parlay” pays out +340 and you can find it already built on the betting app homepage up until kickoff.

MARQUEE MATCHUP 📺

PointsBet: A Fanatics Experience data and insights

OPENING KICKOFF: 8:15 p.m. ET

KEY FACTS: If there’s a poster under ⬇️ team in the NFL, it’s the Saints. The under has hit in 15 of the last 16 New Orleans games, including the last 12. The Jaguars are tied for the best 1H spread record in the NFL at 5-1, joining the Texans and Lions.

MAKING MOVES: With questions surrounding Trevor Lawrence’s health after suffering a knee sprain last weekend, this spread has bounced around quite a bit. The Jaguars opened at -0.5 before the line swung all the way to Saints -3 on Monday. It got to as low as Saints -1 yesterday, but now it’s residing at Saints -2.5. For the total, that number has dropped 1.5 points from 42 to 40.5.

SHARP ACTION ALERT: The Jaguars still had the majority of the spread handle as of last night, but there has been strong Saints action over the last 12+ hours. As a result, the Saints now have the advantage with 65.1% of the spread handle despite the Jaguars possessing the edge with 56.4% of the tickets.

TOP PROP: Alvin Kamara’s receiving yards prop was as low as 25.5, but it now sits at 30.5. The over for Kamara’s receiving yards has drawn over twice as much handle 💰 as any other player prop bet for TNF. Kamara has gone over 30.5 receiving yards in two of his three games this season.

Oklahoma City Thunder — Northwest Division winner (+550)

The Thunder have gone from being the youngest 👶 team in NBA history to one of the most exciting in the league. Oklahoma City improved by 16 wins from two years ago to last season, and now add Rookie of the Year candidate (+225) Chet Holmgren. The 7-footer is ready to hit the ground running with the rest of the Thunder’s talented starting lineup.

Headlined by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is +1600 to win NBA MVP, the Thunder have only one team they need to leap to win this division — the defending NBA champion Nuggets. But there is always a possibility of a championship hangover for Denver to start the season. I expect the young Thunder to shoot out of the gates on fire, with their odds to win the division shortening with each October victory.
