THE MAIN EVENT

TCU (+7.5) vs. Michigan

PointsBet Data and Insights

KICKOFF: 4 p.m. ET

KEY STATS: The line has tilted toward TCU, which specializes in comebacks and close games. The Horned Frogs have a superior offense led by the savvy and fleet-footed Max Duggan, but TCU’s defense is vulnerable to quality rushing attacks – and that’s Michigan’s M.O.

TRENDING: TCU is 9-3-1 ATS this season, while Michigan has covered at a 19-7-1 clip in its last 27. The Over ↗️ is 14-4 in the Wolverines’ last 18 at a neutral site.

THE MAIN EVENT II

Ohio State (+6) vs. Georgia

PointsBet Data and Insights

KICKOFF: 8 p.m. ET

KEY STATS: The line shrunk by a half-point Friday in this clash between the public‍‍ and the sharps. The Buckeyes have a wealth of talent on both sides, but they’ve underperformed against stout competition – namely Ohio State, Penn State and the Wolverines. Georgia is  quasi-home in Atlanta but struggles to rush the QB, ranking 73rd nationally in sacks.

TRENDING: Ohio State is 0-3-1 ATS against teams with a winning record. Georgia is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 postseason games. The Under ↘️ has hit in five straight Georgia bowls.

Bryce Young opted IN to the Sugar Bowl even though he is favored to be the first pick in the NFL Draft. (AP Photo)

The Saturday slate features two appetizers, one with a hilariously low total. Both kick at 12 P.M. ET:

[$50] Sugar Bowl. (Alabama -7.5 vs. Kansas State) – We liked this more at 6.5, but Bryce Young and Will Anderson suiting up says plenty about the team’s motivation.

[$30] Music City Bowl. (Kentucky +3 vs Iowa) – The Hawkeyes’ top two QBs combined to produce a historically bad offense – 6 TDs, 7 INTs. In comes Joe Labas, who was third string.

[$20] Music City Bowl. (Under 31) – Read above. Kentucky’s Will Levis has departed, leaving a massive question under center. And yes, the total really is 31.

EXPERT PICKS

PointsBet studio host Ryan Leaf and PointsBet analyst Jason Avant, the former Michigan and NFL wide receiver, chime in on the CFP semifinals.

THE QUARTERBACK

Michigan -7.5 vs. TCU (-110)
"Michigan will wear down this TCU team and be too much to handle, especially in the second half."
Georgia -6 vs. OSU (-110)
"Georgia has gotten up for every big game this season, and Saturday will be no different. Kirby Smart's guys will cover that number."

THE PASS CATCHER

Michigan ML (-325) vs. TCU
"Michigan has blown teams out in the second half because of better halftime adjustments. Call it Michigan 30, TCU 27."
Georgia -6 vs. OSU (-110)
"Georgia is bigger, faster and stronger than every over team. The Dawgs ace the eye test."

ASK THE TRADER⛳

After Jim Harbaugh out-foxed Ohio State's Ryan Day, the gloves will come off Saturday against TCU. (AP Photo)

When we spoke with PointsBet trading manager Sam Garriock, the Ohio State-Georgia line was 6.5. His comment contained a prediction that came true.

Nearly 90% of our spread handle is on Georgia. Why not shift the line to 7?

  • “The more respected action we have taken is on Ohio State. Most public projection systems have this closer to 4.5, and this lines up with what the sharper bettors have bet with us. I think it is more likely to go to 6 than it is to go to 7.”

What’s the most interesting handicapping debate/issue in TCU-Michigan?

  • “The toughest part is how to value Michigan’s blowout win over Ohio State, where most of the scores came on explosive plays that aren’t necessarily predictive of future explosive plays. They highlight how good of a coaching job (Jim) Harbaugh did to prepare for that style of defense and how well (J.J.) McCarthy adapted to those blitzes.”

POWER️‍♂️ RANKINGS

Three of the four Heisman finalists -- Georgia's Stetson Bennett, TCU's Max Duggan and Ohio State's C.J. Stroud -- will vie for the national title. (AP Photo)

  • Georgia (-130): The defending national champs lost 15 players to the NFL Draft and still overflow with talent.
  • Michigan (+300): No remaining team is more committed to the rush, keeping it on the ground 61.7% of snaps.
  • Ohio State (+350): The Buckeyes got as high as +4000 after getting trounced by Michigan. Ohio State averages 7.3 yards per play, second nationally to Tennessee.
  • TCU (+1800): Sonny Dykes becomes the third first-year head coach to reach the Playoff in Year 1, joining Ryan Day (Ohio State) and Lincoln Riley (Oklahoma).
