PointsBet Data and Insights

Who doesn’t love upsets? We know college football bettors certainly do. Here are the five underdogs that have received the most moneyline tickets so far at PointsBet for Week 1.

1. Florida State (+110 vs. LSU)
This marquee matchup also features two players in the top 5 in Heisman odds: Jayden Daniels (+1000) and Jordan Travis (+1400). Will the winning QB take over the top spot from Caleb Williams (+500)?

2. Nebraska (+210 at Minnesota)
Hopefully the start of the Matt Rhule era isn’t worse than last year’s season opener. That was when the Cornhuskers blew a double-digit second-half lead in a loss to Northwestern – the Wildcats’ only win in 2022.

3. South Carolina (+110 vs. North Carolina)
Bettors are expecting a lot of points in this showdown between Drake Maye and Spencer Rattler, as the total has jumped up from 60.5 to 64.

4. Colorado (+635 at TCU)
If you thought Deion Sanders was already getting a lot of media coverage, imagine if Colorado pulls off this upset.

5. Florida (+165 at Utah)
With Utah star QB Cam Rising’s status up in the air, Florida’s moneyline price has shifted from +255 to +165 (and from +9 to +5 on the spread).

EXPERT PICKS

Ariel Epstein isn't afraid to back the over on one of the highest team totals this MLB season, while Daniel Parisi is expecting an easy U.S. Open match for this American.

THE PROP QUEEN

Braves Team Total Over 8.5 Runs (+105) [8:40 p.m. ET]
"The Braves have won all 6 meetings against the Rockies, outscoring them 57-17. Atlanta has the highest OPS in baseball against lefties, while Rockies southpaw Kyle Freeland is 1-9 with a 6.13 ERA in his last 16 starts."

THE AGREEABLE ACE

Frances Tiafoe: Set Betting 3-0 (+105) [7 p.m. ET]
“Tiafoe rallies to the occasion when he plays at Arthur Ashe. He should be too powerful against Sebastian Ofner, who doesn't accelerate on the hard surface.”

AWARDS TOUR

ACTION REPORT

NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds (PointsBet Creative)

The NFL regular season kicks off next week and offseason action on futures has been pouring in. Let’s look at which teams and players have been getting the most betting interest in various markets before the real games begin.

Here are the players that have gotten the most action to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

MOST TICKETS TO WIN DPOY

1. Aidan Hutchinson (+2500) 12.2%
The second-year defensive end opened at +3300 and reached as low as +1900 in July before settling in at his current number.

2. Micah Parsons (+450) 9.6%
He was originally listed as the +700 DPOY co-favorite with Myles Garrett, though now Parsons is at his lowest price yet to take home the award this campaign.

3. Nick Bosa (+1000) 8.1%
Bosa is looking to become the fourth player to win DPOY in consecutive years, along with Lawrence Taylor (1981-82), J.J. Watt (2014-15) and Aaron Donald (2017-18).

MOST HANDLE TO WIN DPOY

1. Aidan Hutchinson 22.8%
One Michigan bettor put $525 on Hutchinson back when he was +3300 for a potential win of $17,325.

2. Micah Parsons 12.5%
When the 49ers traded up from No. 12 to No. 3 to take Trey Lance in the 2021 NFL Draft, that No. 12 pick ended up becoming Parsons.

3. Nick Bosa 10.0%
Nick’s older brother Joey has also been a popular bet for this award, as the Chargers’ pass-rusher ranks sixth in handle at 4.6%.

SEISMIC SHIFT

MARKET MOVERS

PointsBet Creative

The Jonathan Taylor saga took another turn yesterday with the Colts keeping him on the PUP list after not being able to trade him, meaning Taylor will miss ❌ the first four games of the season.

As a result, Taylor’s Offensive Player of the Year odds worsened once again after swinging from +3800 to +500.

And to think, only four players had lower opening OPOY odds than Taylor when this market was released in March: Justin Jefferson (+1000), Ja’Marr Chase (+1100), Christian McCaffrey (+1200) and Cooper Kupp (+1400).
