EVENT: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Thur-Sun)

WHY WE’LL WATCH: The champion will be crowned on the first no-football Sunday ☹️ since September on a postcard course with crashing waves.

COURSE INFO: All 154 players and pro-am partners will play at Pebble Beach, Spyglass and Monterey Peninsula. They’re all relatively short and the cool climate reduces ball flight. The Top 60 and ties play Pebble again on Sunday. The greens are tiny, but the region has received 20 inches of rain ☔ this year, so crisply struck irons will hold.

FAVES: With only five of the world’s top 30 in the field, Matt Fitzpatrick (+1100), Viktor Hovland (+1200) and Jordan Spieth (+1200) lead the charge.

BET TO CONSIDER: Spieth Top 10 (+150): He has six top-10 finishes in 10 tries and had the guts to try that cliffside approach on No. 8 last year.

EXPERT PICKS

The PointsBet triumvirate of ambassador Paige Spiranac, NBA studio host Kazeem 'Kaz' Famuyide and Prop Queen Ariel Epstein fire off their best plays.

THE FORMER PRO

Maverick McNealy Top 5 (+400) at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
"He loves this course and plays well there. It's not a super-strong field; I think he will break through."
Joel Embiid First Basket (+260) vs. Magic
"Philly should feed the best player on the floor."

THE NBA HOST

76ers -9.5 vs. Magic (-110)
“The Sixers blew one against a young, hungry Magic team on Monday. They get revenge with a huge night from Embiid.”
Celtics -9 @ Nets (-110)
“The Celtics are the best at defending the 3. Without KD and an inconsistent Nic Claxton inside, the Nets have to shoot it well from deep, and I don’t think it happens.”

THE PROP QUEEN

Kings’ De'Aaron Fox Over 25.5 Pts (-115) @ Spurs
“Fox is averaging 27.8 points against bottom-10 teams in points allowed in the paint. Overall the Spurs yield 122.3 per game, most in the NBA.”
Thunder -6 @ Rockets (-110)
"Houston is missing Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green. Those are huge losses to the offense."

PointsBet Data and Insights

You can not only bet on when LeBron will overtake Kareem (Feb. 9 vs. Bucks is the +130 fave), you can wager on how.

  •  Layup (+170): LeBron laying it up without going for an emphatic dunk? Might lead to a collective groan.
  •  3-Point FG (+350): A Logo-3 would be super sweet.
  •  Free Throw (+350): If James is at the charity stripe with the record on the line, he should just miss it.
  •  Other (+375): C’mon, LeBron, how bout a Sky Hook?
  •  Dunk (+550): How many times have we seen LeBron crash his way through multiple players and LeDunk it?! His flair for the dramatic makes this more likely than you’d think.
