TOUGH STRETCH

FLORIDA MAN FINDS BEAR TRAP

Danger lurks at the 16th hole. Just ask Chris Kirk (AP Photo)

EVENT: Honda Classic (Thurs-Sun)

WHY WE’LL WATCH: Hardly a star-studded field, but it’s always fun to see which pros can navigate this treacherous course and survive the “Bear Trap” (holes 15-17).

COURSE INFO: The Champion golf course at National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is a beast. With water and bunkers lurking, this Nicklaus design has played as the most difficult non-major course seven of the last 10 years.

FAVES: Sungjae Im (+1000) conquered this course in 2020. Shane Lowry (+1600) was runner-up last year. Third fave is … Aaron Wise (+2200).

BET TO CONSIDER: Chris Kirk 72-hole Match Bet (-140) vs. Thomas Detry (-105). Kirk is frighteningly accurate off the tee and has the up-and-down skills to save par.

EXPERT PICKS

WHO RUN THE WORLD?? (Sing it, Beyoncé.) PointsBet ambassador Paige Spiranac, Prop Queen Ariel Epstein and college sports guru Lucy Rohden share their wisdom.

THE FORMER PRO

Denny McCarthy Top 10 Honda Classic (+300)
“He is trending and about to break through. This course suits his game.”
Nuggets-Cavs Over 222 (-110)
"I got a tip on this!"

THE PROP QUEEN

Jalen Brunson Most Improved (+300)
"Brunson is averaging 7+ PPG more than last year, and the Knicks will play meaningful games down the stretch."
Mavericks to win Southwest Division (+350)
"Last year Dallas proved it can be a great second-half team. Memphis is struggling without Steven Adams."

THE COMEDIAN

Iowa (-1.5) @ Wisconsin
“Everyone who watches this game loses. However I will never learn my lesson. So give me Iowa just so I can feel something!”
NC State (-5.5) vs. Wake Forest
“The term ‘Wolfpack state’ just seems wrong, but I fear that’s where we are now.”

POWER️‍♂️ RANKINGS

PointsBet Data and Insights

Who will hoist the Stanley Cup?

Bruins (+450): Boston is winning at a historic pace thanks to its depth, prolific offense (second in goals) and shutdown goaltending (fewest goals allowed).

Avalanche (+650): The defending Stanley Cup champs have taken a step back on offense, but the ‘D’ is strong and they’re heating up (11-2-2 over their last 15).

Hurricanes (+700): The Canes have torn through the league over the last three months, going 27-4-3 since Nov. 26.

Oilers (+1000): Connor McDavid leads the league’s top-scoring attack and is a shoo-in (-1000) for his third Hart Trophy.

Lightning (+1200): With their balanced roster and championship experience, the Lightning are always a threat to strike.

Maple Leafs (+1200): The Leafs have rounded into form after a slow start and are exceptional on both ends of the ice.

Rangers (+1200): With reigning Vezina winner Igor Shesterkin in net and a top-10 offense, New York is a sneaky choice.

Stars (+1400): With Vezina candidate Jake Oettinger between the pipes and a solid offense, the Central-leading Stars could shine come playoff time.

NBA'S SWEET 16

MAKE THE CASE‍⚖️

How ya feeling, AD?

Which teams will be among the final 16 following the Play-In Tournament?

Lakers – Yes (+180): With Russell Westbrook gone, Anthony Davis healthy and LeBron no longer chasing history, LA should claw its way in.

Warriors – No (+250): The Warriors have been unable to shake their championship hangover. Their age is showing and their defense is awful.

Hawks – Yes (-164): Atlanta has a postseason assassin in Trae Young if they wind up in the Play-In tourney.

T’Wolves – No (-190): The T-Wolves just traded away D’Angelo Russell and can’t win on the road – where 13 of their final 21 games are.

DEF POY EDITION

IS IT LOCKED UP?

It's only a matter of time until Bam Adebayo wins DPOY. (AP Photo)

Can anyone beat out Grizzlies power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. (-190)? Here are five with a shot:

Brook Lopez (+400): The 34-year-old Buck is still excellent at contesting shots with the third-most blocks per game in the NBA.

Bam Adebayo (+650): He’s having a career year on offensive and remains an elite defender.

Nic Claxton (+1000): The Nets center trails only Jackson in blocks (2.6 per game).

Evan Mobley (+2000): The Cavs big man is the best defender on the best defense, which allows 106.1 PPG.

Joel Embiid (+4000): His team surrendered 184 points on 61.8% shooting in his last time out, but we’ll forgive him.
