MAJOR MVP MOVEMENT

MARKET MOVERS

The Heat are 7-1 this postseason when Bam Adebayo scores at least 20 points.

After the Heat tied the NBA Finals at one game apiece last night, a third player has emerged as a strong contender for NBA Finals MVP. PointsBet Head of Trading Kevin Lawler joins us to explain the major shift.

Top NBA Finals MVP Odds

Before Game 1: Nikola Jokic -325, Jimmy Butler +320, Jamal Murray +2200, Bam Adebayo +6000, Michael Porter Jr. +6000

Before Game 2: Jokic -500, Butler +750, Murray +1500, Adebayo +3000, Gabe Vincent +10000

Current: Jokic -260, Butler +400, Adebayo +700, Vincent +3300, Murray +5000

ASK THE TRADER: “Bam was 500/1 for this award back at the start of the playoffs. The general consensus has been that Jimmy takes all the Miami equity, and that no one else on the roster has that star factor. What we’ve seen in the first two games is that Bam has stepped up both offensively and defensively. If Denver wins, it’s Jokic’s award. If Miami wins, all of a sudden it’s gotten much more interesting with it depending on what Bam and Jimmy do for the rest of the series. As of now, it’s advantage Bam.”

EXPERT PICKS

Red-hot pucks expert Qordaseus “Q” Alexander gives us two picks for Game 2. Ariel Epstein also joins the fun from the diamond.

THE ICE MAN

Panthers @ Golden Knights: Golden Knights in Regulation (+105) [8 p.m. ET]
"Vegas has outscored opponents 53-24 at even strength this postseason and Florida seemed to truly struggle with Vegas’ line combinations in Game 1."
Vegas' Ivan Barbashev Over 0.5 Points (+100)
"Barbashev has recorded a point in 3 straight games, including an assist in Game 1. With Eichel and Marchessault getting most of the attention on the top line, he should get some solid scoring opportunities."

THE PROP QUEEN

Tigers SP Joey Wentz Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-110) [6:40 p.m. ET]
"Philly has the third-highest strikeout rate against lefties. Wentz had at least five strikeouts in two of the three matchups he's had against high K-rate teams."
Brewers @ Reds: Reds F5 moneyline (-145) [7:10 p.m. ET]
"Veteran Brewers righty Julio Teheran faces Andrew Abbott, who is making his MLB debut. Yet, the line has been moving strongly in the Reds' favor. Abbott is a big strikeout guy, so I'll take F5."

PointsBet Data and Insights

THE LINES: Panthers (+120 ML) @ Golden Knights (-140 ML); Total 5.5  (Over -121/Under +100)

PUCK DROP: 8 p.m. ET

KEY FACTS: Back to Earth for Sergei Bobrovsky? After not allowing more than 3 goals in 10 straight games, the Florida netminder surrendered 4 goals in Game 1. Vegas’ Jack Eichel has been the biggest facilitator throughout the playoffs with 14 assists, including 9 in the last 10 games and 2 helpers in Game 1.

TRENDING: The Panthers have never won a game at T-Mobile Arena (0-6) and Vegas netminder Adin Hill’s .938 SV% won’t make it an easy task in Game 2. Knights forward and former Panther Jonathan Marchessault has 8 goals in the last 8 games.

MAKING MOVES: Vegas opened as -135 home chalk for Game 2. That price has crept up to -140, whereas Florida has shifted from +115 to +120. For series odds, the Knights ⚔️ swung from -125 to -220 after their Game 1 triumph. The Panthers are up to +180 after closing at +105 before the Stanley Cup Final began.

WEEKEND IN REVIEW

WHAT WERE THE ODDS?

The Heat are now +220 to win the series, while the Nuggets are still -270 favorites.

There were several juicy sports betting stories from this past weekend. Here were three that stood out to us:

1. Heat Warning in Denver

Double-digit comeback wins have been a staple of this Miami postseason run. Last night was no different, as the Heat were down as many as 15 points before storming back to tie the NBA Finals.

Their longest live moneyline odds in Game 2? That would be +750. One other fun fact? The Heat have had 7 comeback wins with a deficit of at least 12 points this postseason. That’s only two fewer than their entire regular season (9).

2. Everything Came Up Roses

There was a lot of hype surrounding Rose Zhang ahead of her pro debut at the Mizuho American Open. After she outlasted Jennifer Kupcho in a playoff, Zhang became the first golfer to win her LPGA Tour debut since Beverly Hanson in 1951.

Zhang was priced at +4500 to win the Mizuho American Open, and we doubt she’ll be closing in that range again anytime soon.

3. The Sky Is Falling!

After a few major acquisitions this offseason, the Liberty entered the WNBA season as a top championship contender. New York won four of its first five contests heading into yesterday’s clash with the Chicago Sky.

The Sky closed as +675 underdogs, and were getting 12.5 points on the road. Chicago was down 19 points early in the third quarter, and were able to complete a massive comeback to pull off the biggest upset of the WNBA campaign thus far.
