MARKET MOVERS ๐Ÿ“ˆ

September 28, 2023

The NBA broke the sports world yesterday after a blockbuster three-way trade resulted in Damian Lillard going to Milwaukee to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Not surprisingly, there were major changes across the board for NBA futures.

Before the deal, the Celtics and Nuggets were +500 co-favorites to win the NBA title ๐Ÿ†, followed by the Suns (+625) and Bucks (650). Now Milwaukee finds itself atop the odds board at +375, while Boston remained at +500 and Denver rose slightly to +550. Phoenixโ€™s title odds improved slightly from +625 to +600 after the haul of players it received in yesterdayโ€™s blockbuster from shipping big man Deandre Ayton to Portland.

The Trail Blazers were the only team in the three-way trade whose title odds worsened after the news broke, swinging from +15000 to +20000. But they werenโ€™t the biggest losers overall. That title would belong to the Heat, who went from +950 to +2500 ๐Ÿ‘Ž after being the top rumored destination for Lillard.

For NBA MVP, Lillardโ€™s odds moved from +2200 to +1600, where he is currently tied for the eighth-lowest odds with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Antetokounmpo is still in the third spot for the award, though his price did worsen from +550 to +700.
