Welcome back to Total Thursday, where we’ll be looking at the most popular total bet (excluding TNF) every week.
This week’s total spotlight is an unusual one. There is actually a college football under that has generated more handle than any NFL total bet outside of TNF 🤯.
Louisville and Indiana will square off at Lucas Oil Stadium this Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. This total opened at 53 before dropping down to 50.5, as a whopping 99.2% of the handle has come in on the under.
There is even more handle on the under alone than Louisville spread, Louisville moneyline, Indiana spread and Indiana moneyline COMBINED.
We checked in with football trader Jake Fisher to get his thoughts 💭 on this total.
ASK THE TRADER: While it’s a bit surprising to see a total for an unranked CFB early kick garner more attention than most pro games so far, NFL totals typically have higher demand in the few days leading up to kickoff when key factors like weather and injury reports become more certain. All this under money could be targeting a Hoosiers defense that hasn’t given up a passing TD through two weeks and allowed just 23 points to Ohio State. Louisville’s offense has feasted against weaker competition so far under new coach Jeff Brohm, but it has only converted 23% of its third downs.
